LUSH-US Drinks: Blessing In Disguise

We were having a good time eating, laughing & sharing... it was super easy to fall into a food coma, but my Puerto Rican Buddhist Goddess was like "OYE me... you cooked I clean!" It was like the gates of heaven opened up .

I LOATHE cleaning, people wonder why do I cook so well & how can I focus on labor intensive dishes... it's because I have absolutely NO cleaning cells in my brain!

Damn Sexy!
Ave Maria.... not the song but Maria (my long lost domestic goddess of a house keeper) how I miss you so. Seriously, when I lost my job it wasn't the fact I couldn't go shoe shopping , or travel, or can't buy drinks at the bar anymore & instead be subjected to the seedy business of sneaking into the bathroom to drink from my roadie or flask I stashed in my purse that I was going to miss the most, it was my dear dear Maria....

Aye, Maria, as Julia Childs is my witness I will sell this show... I promise & we will be together again forever, amen! *she slips away to cry for a moment*

Ok I'm back. Vinda challenges me... "ok bartender... make me a drink!" I put on some Salsa music, cranked up the volume walked to the bar & was like "I got it!" Game on.

Being that all three of us are going through some challenges I made us my favorite concoction I named a "Blessing In Disguise". I like to make my drinks with the same thought process as I make my food.

I created this drink when my friend Michelle went through a terrible break-up & this is the drink that is featured in my pilot for Single Serving:

1 part Tequila: because it numbs the pain & losing someone or something hurts.
1 part St Germain (Elder Flower Liquer): because what says fabulous than something French.
1 part Champagne: because HELLO this is a celebration bitches, good riddance!
Lemon Sorbet Floater: because Women are sweet, fresh, tangy, tart & refreshing & through every adversity have the strength to rise to the top.
Vinda said this was the greatest drink she has ever had & could drink only that for the rest of her life. She happily scrubbed my stove (HAPPILY, can you imagine?!?!?) whilst shaking her glorious bootay & Perri feeling nice put the pole on spin mode & broke into an impromptu performance. The cocktail made us all feel so nice.

Vinda said I should rename it Vinda or heaven, told her I couldn't but I feel a cupcake version named Vinda's Heaven is coming

How I Roll: Ah Diddle-Dee.. Cabana Life For Me!

For a chick that doesn't know when the next regular check's a comin' in... 16 months deep since I lost my stable gig of 9 years. I tend to live a fabulous life sometimes I've been so focused on Single Serving & new recipes I haven't gone out in a while. I got a gig for 2 weeks hitting all the hottest spots in town to recruit hot promoters & ran into SO many old school faces... even after YEARS things in H-Wood don't change that much.

It was surreal... kind of like I never left except I was 30 lbs heavier & even more bitter about the dating scene & the guys are losing their hair & still dating 23 year olds to feel better about themselves. Speaking about weight, I had not stepped on US soil in a bathing suit since I quit smoking 2 years ago... yikes!

On my random field trips around town I got invited to this hotel pool party on Memorial Day at the W in Westwood, I almost was going to pass it up until I was offered to hang VIP style in a Cabana. I invited my girl Perri, psyched myself up to get in a suit actually numbed myself, posted my apprehension on Facebook, got a ton of supportive people to encourage me, put on the suit, grabbed Perri & a roadie (water bottle filled with Tequila... what? I'm broke not stupid & needed a little more liquid courage!) then we grabbed a double double at In N Out (that's cause I'm broke & gluttonous HELLO 30 friggin' lbs) & it was on like Donkey Kong!

It was PACKED! We had to wait almost 15 minutes to get in & I've known the door guy for 16 years, was "VIP" & invited by 3 separate promoters there... that's how packed it was, no sweat we got in. Now the scariest thing about getting into my suit is that every summer all my friends post their Malibu house party pics & all the trendy cool celebrity filled stuff they can do in a bikini... ARGH! Let me tell you those bitches use photoshop or airbrush themselves... EVERY single chick there had cellulite... it was FABULOUS!!!

It was so liberating, seeing all of them just comfortable & having a blast, my new dimples fit right in. Perr & I ripped off our outfits & took a strut, her in her gold Tory Burch's me in my Dior's working it around the pool

2 hours later we had the cabana to ourselves & someone sent us a bottle, we had a flat screen in the cabana & invited people to watch the Lakers game... SO fun! Lindsay & her little sister Ali shared the cabana next to us... it was awesome!

Perri & I were treated like Princesses & honestly I have never felt better & more comfortable in my skin all year like I did on Memorial Day... SCREW IT what I learned is that you never trust a skinny chef, all cellulite is created equal & does not discriminate & I look dayum good... still! Never again will I shortchange myself nor embrace the changes in my life.

Baked: Monday Morning with EDB

Went over to EDB's to make waffles with the leftover batter I had with Lulu... once again it's always a magical day with the enchanting EDB. She made these wonderfully light & flavorful Almond Meringue Cookies. We watched The View, tore up the waffles & noshed on her lovely, lovely cookies. I coined the day Almond Joy!

The almond flavor in both the waffles & cookies were such a fantastic way to start the week. Her "cookies" I swear were these tiny edible clouds from Heaven! They were so airy, I would just pop these treats into my mouth & allow them to dissolve... I'm surprised I don't know what my brain looks like my eyes rolled back so many times in sweet, sweet ecstasy... holy monkey nuts I'm a TERRIBLY CORNY writer! hahahahahaha!

We LAUGHED our butts off... as usual & had a rousing conversation about Zac Efron & what a terrible Actor he is & his upcoming film "17 Again" She said it's a male version of Freaky Friday & out of NO where I pulled 2 old 80's films out my butt. One with Kirk Cameron & Dudley Moore, "Like Father, Like Son' & the other with Fred Savage & Judge Reinhold "Vice Versa"... we SCREAMED with laughter & imdb'd the films.

She found a double feature DVD of BOTH of them on Amazon.com & THAT"S IT... it was a wrap! She bought them (can't WAIT for them to get here). Amazon suggested 18 Again & I yelled "WITH CHARLIE SCHLATTER?!?!?" she gave me one look & LOST IT... she then took my "Black card" away from me & tore it up! Fanfreakingtastic morning! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I enjoy this spot!

Say it FAST isn't her shirt "SOFA KING COOL?" *snort* I know she is!

My FAVORITE Cupcake Princess/Goomba Elizabeth is who introduced me to the whole world of blogs & is literally my link to the foodie existence.

LET ME TELL YOU the hostess with the mostest is BACK!!!! Glad to know I'm NOT alone. She not only looked fantastic when I showed up...

she organized an impromptu dinner party & the fantastic Rena & Robin showed up.

She made Italian Sausage & Peppers

Linguini & Clams

Her Nana's Apple Pecan Bundt Cake...

honestly I haven't had Bundt cake in 15 years... I MOPPED that puppy up & was practically in tears of how it made me feel when I tried to explain it to her

I don't know if it's the economy but there is nothing like old school comfort food & as much as I love love LOVE cupcakes... the Bundt just kicked cupcakes bundt! WOW, did I also mention she put on an entire season of The Golden Girls for me while she cooked & I was designing my site & brought out the tequila shots?

OMG the episode with Rose wearing the vacuum slacks is on... hahahhaahahahahahahaha *snort* (yes I snort, shut up! *snort*) FIERCE! Well, I know it's day 2 of my blog & I should say more, but I've been looking at my screen ALL day & now the UNO Attack she just whipped out is calling my name... PEACE!
